CHRISTINE CUMMINGS

Christine trained in ceramics at Lancashire Polytechnic and her final show consisted purely of pig studies. The response was enthusiastic and her work was a complete sell out. At this time she imagined that this would be the beginning of a whole world of sculptural beasts. However, several years on, she is still captivated by pigs, constantly researching them through photography and sketching.
Christine has found plenty of source material in the rare breeds owned by pig showmen, as well as having her own real life model, a pot bellied pig called Jezebel. Her creations are made with a mixture of crank bodied and stoneware clays with Raku and smoke fired finishes.
